Love the ending book!!!!!!!!

This is a great ending to the Blackmoon Beginnings it tells the after math of the battle in everyone's characters point of view!!! I thank Kaitlyn Hoyt for the wonderful series and a very great job in the finishing book. We get to know the characters a lot more and the past of everyone the the others. Great Job Kaitlyn Hoyt I give the series 5 stars and I recommend it for kids like me!!! Keep up the great work!!!!

FUN Series!

1st up - read the books in order as they truly are part of a series and truly aren't standalone.

2nd - the series is just plain FUN for a teenaged girl, but there is some serious violence (including death) so this doesn't qualify for a PG13 rating, in my opinion.

3rd - The main heroine is what every normal teen girl wants to be - beautiful, skilled and gifted in almost every way she could imagine. The main heroine grows in a variety of ways from an "ugly duckling into a beautiful swan" - another aspect of fantasy hope for a teen.

4th - Yes, the author is an immature writer and it shows with poor sentence syntax, grammatical errors up the wazoo (wrong words, missing words, added words, etc.), plus long dialogue where you've no idea who is speaking until the very end ... and so forth.

It all makes for an extremely challenging reading environment and there-in lies one of the major drawbacks of the series.

5th - there are truly some laugh out loud moments. The author has a good sense of humour and allows it to play out through many of the characters in the storyline.

6th - I'm a gramma of a mid-teenaged granddaughter and while I wouldn't want her sleeping with a boyfriend for any reason at her age, I can fully respect that the love interests in this series are ONLY just sleeping together and not having sex until marriage (as far as we know, anyway).

7th and final - Hopefully, this new author will find a quality and qualified editor to attend any future work ... and maybe even tidy up this series of books for future readers.

It took me five days to complete the entire series and I don't regret a single word I read. This author created such a incredible series that I am now a forever fan of hers. It was funny, witty, heartwarming, frustrating, heartbreaking, had to stop myself from reading because I was crying moments, and many more type of emotions wrapped up nicely in a incredible journey. :)

Quinn (A Mind of Her Own: The Life of Karen Horney) presents here a carefully researched, well-rounded study of Curie (1867-1934), the physicist credited with isolating radium. Born Marie Sklodowska in Poland, she left her home to study in Paris, where she met and married physics professor Pierre Curie. Agreeing with earlier accounts, Quinn depicts their marriage as a devoted partnership. The Curies together made an investigation of radioactivity, for which they shared the 1903 Nobel Prize for physics. But Quinn breaks ground in her detailed description, drawn from newly available papers, of Marie's life after Pierre's accidental death in 1906. At first so grief-stricken she neglected her two daughters, Irene and Eva, Marie later had a love affair with French scientist Paul Langevin. This new biography of Marie Curie by the author of A Mind of Her Own: The Life of Karen Horney (LJ 10/15/87) includes information drawn from previously unavailable letters that Curie wrote to Pierre, her husband, after his accidental death. It also draws on correspondence between Curie and Paul Langevin, with whom she had an affair several years after becoming a widow. The affair, sensationalized in the French press, nearly caused the revocation of her second Nobel Prize. Only the arrival of World War I and Curie's valiant efforts to bring X-ray technology to French army hospitals and even to the front lines succeeded in removing the tainted image from the French public's memory. This is a rigorously researched book with extensive notes and bibliography. It provides much more detailed and balanced coverage of Curie's life than has previously been available. Inasmuch as science was central to the existence of the Curies, Quinn examines their lives vis-a{�}-vis contemporary scientific dynamics. She does this at a level understandable to the general reader, yet with sufficient fact and theory to enable an appreciation of their discoveries. Quinn's portrayal of the sociopolitical milieu of turn-of-the-century France, including nationalism and male chauvinism, is reflected in the shabby treatment afforded the Polish-born Marie, such as twice failing to elect her, the first woman Noble Prize winner, to membership in the French Academy of Science, and, after her scandalous liaison involving the French physicist Langevin, treating her second Nobel Prize as a nonevent. However, Quinn shows that the Curies' unpopular politics, reclusiveness, and eccentricities, such as twice refusing the French Medal of Honor, contributed to their difficulties. As if I was walking in her shoes

Growing up in Poland, being interested in science and scientists and loving biographies "made me" reach for Susan Quinn book, Marie Curie: A life. A life,...what an accurate title! The book is about one of the scientists of its (and even current) times, but it is titled modestly, "...:A life". This means, Susan Quinn introduced this intriguing woman as a normal, day to day character. Such "normalcy" did not take away my admiration and inspiration in my own professional pursuits. She, the author, simply presented an extra-ordinary woman in a very ordinary way, just as if she, Maria Sklodowska-Curie, were your or mine neighboor.
The language of the biography is percise but also nostalgic. Susan Quinn proved to be excellent researcher and "mood creator". She was able to write as if she was walking in Sklodowska-Curie shoes. She captured non-essential detail that took a reader right in the middle of the action. The details she used were accurate and true. It brought a Polish reader back to Warsaw. There, the streets were just as she described them, the smell and noise and politics of XIX and XX c Poland were so accuratly painted that as I continued reading it I could no longer remember I was in USA. I thought I were at Nowolipki street or Saxon Garden. Memories of my country history and history of scientific world were rekindled in my heart.
This is a very rich book. It will bring memories or create some for those who are not familiar with scientific revolution of Europe in late XIXc and early XXc. It is a book about heroism, loyalty, determination, passion, love and friendship. It is also a book about rejection in professional world. But most of all, this book is about victory of one extraordinary woman. This is the only woman ever who received two Nobel Prizes. And she happened to come from a country that was constantly occupied by its oppresors, from Poland. Both the author and the heroin did a fantastic job.

About the Author
Mike was born in California and has lived in multiple statesfrom the west coast to the east coast. He cannot remember a time when he wasn'treading a book. At school, home, on vacation, at work at lunch time, and yeseven a few pages in the car (at times when he just couldn't put that great bookdown). Though he has read all sorts of genres he has always been drawn tofantasy. It is his way of escaping to a simpler time filled with magic, wondersand heroics of young men and women.

Other than reading, Mike has always enjoyed the outdoors. Fromthe beaches in Southern California to the warm waters of North Carolina. Fromthe waterfalls in the Northwest to the Rocky Mountains in Utah. Mike hasappreciated the beauty that God provides for us. He also enjoys hiking,discovering nature, playing a little basketball or volleyball, and mostrecently disc golf. He has a lovely wife who has always supported him, andthree beautiful children who have been the center of his life.

Mike began writing stories in elementary school and moved onto larger novels in his early adult years. He has worked in corporate finance formost of his career. That, along with spending time with his wonderful familyand obligations at church has made it difficult to find the time to trulydedicate to writing. In the last few years as his children have become older hehas returned to doing what he truly enjoys - writing!�

A good read!

The first two books that are available are a good start for what could be a very good series. I broke my rule about not starting a series unless the whole lot was available and read these books anyway. I am glad that I did and hope the author does not leave us hanging. It is a well written work well worth the time spent with it. I look forward to the follow up instalments. I hope we don't have to wait very long. The format is some what familiar but makes a good story. I like the concept that love, above all, is the most powerful force out there. Getting to that point is what makes a good story. Good prevails over evil. You'll like this one.

This story was a grab you at the first chapter. It is similar to many of fantasy stories yet different. It captures your sense of young idealism, fantasy, young love, friends, and evil. The belief in a god, a false preacher all wrapped around wizards both evil and untried. Where will it go from here. And what about those magical horses, and throne? Good read.

Very funny and too true - very disengaging

I ordered 3 copies of this book for friends at work - we are now completely disengaged - finding it very hard to put any effort into work. It is a very good read and very funny. Surprising that a French woman's experience of working in a large corporation in France is so similar to mine in this country. It opens your eyes and reinforces what you already know about politics in a big company. As I pass the copies around the office, it is like a cancer that is spreading - not sure what the engagement score of the department will be by the time everyone has read it!

Entertaining..

This book was originally published in French, and as such, a bit of the context has persisted. However, there's a lot to be learnt from in this book about surviving in a large organization. The word play is excellent. Very enjoyable -- a fun read!

Never gets to the point

This book is more focused on middle management or corporate. Lots of issues that we all know, but not really much advice on how to actually "deal" with it. We all know what the problem is, but what do you do with it? I found myself getting very bored halfway through it, and started to just skim to the end. I did not even pass it on to friends, just trashed it.
