A great book for anyone wishing to know more obout bulldog breeds, it also expells some of the myths surrounding fighting dog breeds. this book does not promote the fighting of dogs, but does explain the history of the barbarrick so called sport.

Excellent review of the world's most powerful dogs

Whether or not this book is new or old to the dog world in general, it wasn't new to me. I hadn't heard of several of the dogs contained herein, and it was very interesting to see what they look like and read about their history and gameness.

I learned quite a bit about gameness, and the inappropriately labeled "sport" of dogfighting, although this book DOES NOT (nor do I) support or promote dogfighting. I also learned that Dr. Semencic really likes the American Pit Bull Terrier - as it is the gamest of all breeds.

For someone who didn't know very much about the so-called fighting dogs going in, this was an excellent introduction. The information was accessible, and pictures contained within were helpful in getting a good feel for each dog that was discussed.

Informative book on the subject

Finally we have a book on the market that its author, as the name suggests, is of Russian origin and she knows first-hand what she is talking about!
I read the book over and over. It’s packed with very useful information, details and guidance on what to do, and what not to do, if you wish to use Russian social media in order to enter the lucrative Russian market to sell goods or services.
The book is easy to read and to follow. The language is simple and to the point. The nine chapters of the book cover and answer almost all questions that anyone might have on the subject.
It even gives an outline of Russian law provisions on the subject of social media in Russia, in order to avoid pitfalls!
Highly recommended either for business people or students studying Russia today or even as general informative book on the subject.

Before reading this book the combination Russia + Social Media, was a total blank - unknown territory! It's one thing to understand international/English-language social media and it's another thing to understand social media in a large domestic market such as Russia, with all its peculiarities. Very useful book for e-business in Russia as well as for general promotion and awareness.

What a great breakdown of the networks. Surprisingly this book goes into what countries other than Russia use these social platforms - there is Ukraine and Belarus and a few other ex-soviet block countries that connect using predominantly Russian social networks. So in fact this book covers all Russian speaking countries. I don't think there is anything like it out there, its a fantastic guide on Russian online marketing.

Intertextuality is a set of relations with other texts, which can include direct quotations, allusions, literary conventions, imitation, parody and unconscious sources amongst others. Intertextuality also involves assumptions regarding the existing knowledge of the reader, the situation being referred to, and its context.�

This book presents aspects of intertextuality in three primary sources. These sources are the script of the motion picture�The Matrix�written by directors Andy and Larry Wachowski, and the books�Alice's Adventures in Wonderland�and�Through the Looking-Glass�by Lewis Carroll.

In�The Matrix�there are few explicit references to Lewis Carroll's�Alice's Adventures in Wonderland�and�Through the Looking-Glass. However, review writers and researchers covering�The Matrix�have suggested that there are many other elements of intertextuality of a less obvious nature which closely link the�Alice�books andThe Matrix.

This book by Voicu Mihnea Simandan presents both the explicit references and the less direct ones, giving evidence from primary and secondary sources. About the Author
Voicu Mihnea Simandan is a Romanian writer and freelance journalist who was born in 1978 in Arad, a small city in Transylvania. He has published short stories, non-fiction, and books for children. He has been calling Thailand home since 2002 and he has been a member of the Bangkok Writers' Guild since 2009 and a member of AP Writers since 2012. He is now teaching Language Arts and Social Studies at an international school in Bangkok. He loves archery, martial arts and travelling.

Well Researched Read

I enjoyed reading The Matrix and the Alice Books. It was written very much like a thesis and followed thesis structure very well. While it wasn't a super original idea (what is?) it was enjoyable and well researched, as well as something I hadn't really ever thought about. All the terms were well defined and it was very clear how The Matrix and Alice fit together and to read into the intertexual relationship of the children's stories and the movie. Everything was well thought out, ideas were fully developed, and it was well presented. It was easy to read and understand, even without a thorough knowledge of The Matrix or either Alice book. I look forward to reading his upcoming novel: The Buddha Head. I give The Matrix and the Alice Books 4.5 stars for its genre.

Well-researched and well-written

This is one of the most interesting books I have ever read. It's mind-bending premise really plays on both of its sources and combines them to great effect. The erudite author clearly knows the subject well, and his expertise on the source material is well matched by his ability to write about it clearly. The book is well researched and well situated in its critical framework. As such, it is valuable not only to fans of the Matrix or Alice in Wonderland, but to students of literary theory and intertextuality.

Recommended for those who like dissecting their books and movies.

My first impression was - Despite the length of this book what made this book feel like eternity was the overuse of definitions from other people. Every other paragraph is what someone else thinks. Also, without hyperlinks in the Kindle text, it was difficult to keep going back and forth to check the name of the book title or article where the references / quotes were taken from. From its title and description, I was expecting more thoughts from the author himself. In other words, there is no pull at the beginning to keep going.

As I got to the middle, I felt - I am slightly more interested in the book now as it has gone on to explain the different worlds of Alice and Neo. The author's research skills and eye for detail are apparent. Similarities and connections between the Matrix movies and the Alice books were definitely an eye opener. So many years apart and yet, the connections do seem obvious once the author has pointed it out.

As I neared the end, I thought - The author offers a recap of what was mentioned earlier on in the book. While I appreciate all his efforts for research, I do think readers would be more drawn to this book if it contained diagrams and more up to date information. Given the advancement of CGI and newer releases related Alice, I think more timely references are also needed.

My final impression and recommendations - If you a beginner in film studies, this is a good book for you. If you are a movie buff, you may find nothing new. Recommended for those who like dissecting their books and movies.

Loved this book!

I loved Dare to Desire. Alex and Madison had a good thing until Alex got hurt on the football field and pushed her away. Once he has time to recover and come to terms with his injury he realizes that he needs Madison. She is not willing to be hurt again. Alex and Madison have to work together and Alex plans to win Madison back. Their chemistry is undeniable but both have issues to work through. It was a great read and now I can't wait for the next one. I am never disappointed in a Carly Phillips book.

Alex Dare is a star qurterback in the NFL who had his career cut short by injury. He is offered a great job working on a project for a rival team, and he finds that he will be working alongside a woman he has treated badly in the past. He has missed her, but knows that he probably ruined his chances.

Madison Evans is a social worker who is excited about a really great project she is working on that will help provide employment, financial, and psychological resources to NLF players after they retire, or if they are forced into early retirement due to injury. She is unhappy when she finds out she will be working with Alex Dare, who she had a short but intense relationship with and hasn't been able to forget. Madison grew up in foster care, and has a lot of issues trusting people. Even though she sees that Alex has changed, she doesn't want to put herself in a position to get hurt again.

This is one of those books that is just a good classic romance. There are little bits of tension here and there and a couple conflicts, but nothing major. The characters obviously have tons of sexual chemistry and care about one another a lot. I liked that there were times when things could have gone in bad directions, but the characters used their support systems and tried to work things out in a healthy way. I truly wanted Alex and Madison to figure things out and find their way to the relationship they both deserved. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice romantic story with some good steam.

I love this series. There is so much going on with all of the books. There are the family relations, the couple relations, the past relations, it's got everything! I can't wait for the next book in the series, this has really become a favorite of mine!
