Finding Hiden Treasures

Danni Ackerman and Kat Simpson expanded my mind while shopping for product to resell. In the Ultimate Guide to Savings by Store, the authors tell about some places to shop for products I never considered. They share where to shop, but more than that, how to shop within a store. They discuss the type of merchandise typically supplied at the stores and where the "goodies" are that can add profit to a reseller.

One thing I love about the book is learning of all the possible discounts that can be had at various stores. The book goes in to detail on how to save money at each store it reviews. Some discounted options may be obvious, but some are ones I would never have learned about without this book. For example, spending $1,000 a year at one retail store, I can qualify for "elite status" which allows me to use all possible coupons without having to "coupon clip" ahead of time if I even would know a coupon existed. Without this book, I would never know that kind of option existed.

Danni and Kat help you identify the type of products to look for at various stores. They have helped me to start expanding my product line for more interesting and fun "treasures". I'll take this book with me when I travel as I may run across one of the stores they mention that I do not have in my area. With the book in my bag, I'm ready to stock my ebay store (FoundTreasureChest, FoundTreasureChest.com) with all kinds of treasures!

Kat, Danni and their contributing authors have put together a useful book for those interested in getting the most from retail shopping, retail arbitrage to be specific.

Featuring 50 stores, from Ace Hardware to Winn-Dixie, you'll find information about store layout, store merchandise, sales and sale policies, coupon details, pricing and price match policies, and store rewards programs.

Want to know what those asterisks on Costco price cards mean? You'll find out here. Want to know the best days to shop at Salvation Army stores? You'll find it here. You'll also find information about store web sites and social media links. Color photographs illustrate most of the articles.

It's obvious that Kat and Danni are experienced shoppers and I am not. I have learned a lot from their experience and I know that I'll be able to make much more intelligent decisions in the future. Having a peek behind the curtain of these retail stores puts me in a more powerful position, whether it be allocating my TIME in choosing which store to source from, or allocating my MONEY and making sure I get the best deals possible.

Bonus chapters about funding your business and effective use of coupons round out this offering,

There are some typos and layout issues in my copy of the book but I wouldn't let that deter you from purchasing (and implementing) this book. Smart use of the information presented in the book will pay for it over and over.

Good Book But Not For Everyone

I was overjoyed to find this book and find it to be useful and also fill a rare and unique niche. That said, this book is definitely not for everyone. And I suspect that most people will be disappointed in this book because they expect it to be something that it isn't.
--This is not a book about Bloodhounds or training Bloodhounds despite the title. If that's what you're looking for, go elsewhere (the book "Red Dog Rising" about Ronin the legendary trailer is far more interesting and revealing about Bloodhounds as trailers and doing police work).
--This book is written by a non-native English speaker and it shows. For instance, one chapter is titled "For Whom is Man Trailing Interesting?". So the language and syntax is going to throw some people off. That said, the book is written clearly and coherently. But it will read like a conversation with a European who speaks clear and exact English but doesn't have the idioms down and sometimes phrases statements in ways that clearly scream "I"m not from the USA." So if that bugs you, you will continually be distracted by the book. And if that's not an issue for you, be assured that this is a very coherent and clear book that reads easily other than the syntax issue I pointed out.
--This is an intro book. It is not designed to provide a personal history and storyline (ala "Red Dog Rising"). It doesn't provide a wealth of practical training details and troubleshooting (like what to do if you have a high prey drive dog that gets distracted by wildlife scents, or there is nothing on "snake-proofing" your dog which is an issue for trailing in most parts of the US during warm weather months). I could go on with other examples but the point is, the book isn't intended to cover all of those details so don't expect to pick it up as a veteran trailer and see answers to that sticky issue you haven't been able to resolve with your dog.
--This is not a "I can learn to trail with just this book--don't need any training or classes or mentoring--this book alone will do" resource. This book reads like a good resource to get you started, or as a quick checklist the first time you go out trailing (b/c as obvious as it is that you should bring water, you'd be surprised how likely it is that on your first call you show up and are having to bogart water off of someone else.) Or forgetting to pack high-value treats. This is like a job aid--some of the advice is obvious but still essential and easy for people to forget b/c they don't have a routine down. Besides, anyone who is expecting one book to provide all of the answers (or even most of the answers) on trailing is naive.
--Police officers and K9 handlers who are specifically looking for a book geared to criminal justice and trailing potential suspects or victims or witnesses will be disappointed by this book b/c it's not very specific to those scenarios.

Now that I've talked about what this book isn't or who shouldn't get it, let me talk about the pros and target audience. I like that this book distinguishes between trailing and tracking. It's only recently that we've had literature that makes this critical distinction. If you don't know what that means, the quick explanation is that tracking involves a head-down, following tracks on the ground. This is traditionally how dogs were trained to find or follow targets. This approach breaks down when the tracks go to areas (like stone or cement) that don't leave tracks well and can get hosed down in a city (so the scent pool isn't on the track), or the track is old (and the scent pool is really more in the air or other objects) or if the personal/animal leaves the ground (gets in a car, is picked up by someone else, climbs a tree) or the track gets contaminated (someone begins walking on top of the same footsteps). Trailing involves following the scent of the target (and that scent may be strongest off the ground b/c of how scent pools work). It's very difficult to train a dog to track and then train them to trail well. You don't train tracking the same way you train trailing. So this distinction is a critical one and this book makes it--it is aimed at trailing.

This is a great intro book, if you're just getting started with trailing or are thinking of getting started with training. It will give you a clear understanding of what you're getting into, key concepts, how to approach it, and if you and your partner are a decent fit for trailing. This is also a great book if you're taking training on trailing or have an experienced handler you're working with b/c it will augment what you're getting in person, give you ideas of questions to ask your instructor/mentor, and also provide structure to what is sometimes a very "just follow me and do what I do and I'll occasionally give you some hints or interesting stories" approach by many canine trainers. And as I mentioned earlier, it provides a good job/set of reminders if you're a new K9 handler who hasn't done much trailing.

This book was a great read I didn't put it down at all, and it was so in depth and easy to understand for a beginner. I think a must for any scent hound owner for an understanding of their pets abilities and nature.

A Guide to a Good Life

This book will guide you to getting control over your emotions. I wore out my first copy, which was an old paperback that fell apart from so much use, but then I found a hardbound copy in a garage sale many years ago. The book has changed my life in regards to how I deal with people, letting go of old emotional baggage, being satisfied, forgiving yourself and others, making the most of the present moment, and looking forward to the future. It has also helped me to help other people. If I had to choose one word, I'd choose the word "stalwart." It will help you to keep your feet on the ground versus letting your emotions control you and ruin your life. It guides you into becoming the kind of person you would admire for their fortitude and graciousness. In a nutshell, it tells you how to be a happy, decent human being and feel good about yourself right now, not tomorrow, not when you get x or x, or this or that happens, but right at this very moment. When I die, I've asked my people to throw this book into my grave with me.

An oldie but a REALL GOODIE!

The reason this book came to mind is that many years ago it was a great help to me when I was dealing with depression. For some reason I was convinced I was going to die young and every time i felt the least bit "unwell" I'd panic and blow it out of proportion and/or focus on whatever was "wrong" (real or imagined) to the exclusion of everything else, of course making myself worse (and making myself and everyone around me miserable). It has been a LONG TIME, and I mean a long LONG time since I've read this book, and yet it left such a lasting impression on me that when I noticed a friend going through the same thing I'd experienced all those years ago this book imediately came to mind and I wondered if it would help her as much as it did me. Seeing as it's still around, I guess a lot of people must have benefitted from it, so I decided to write this review in hopes it will help even more people. Good luck!

Would help anyone in pain

The other reviewer described the book so I will write about what it did for me. I had sprained a tendon in my leg/hip (how, I have no idea; it just came on) and was in some pain. I didn't know it was a tendon, so I began to worry about it. The pain increased, I began limping, and kept worrying--magnifying it into some sort of dreadful cancer eating away at my bones. (Well, you know, sprains should heal up in a few weeks. I'd had this for a couple months! And I still have it three months later.) Anyway, I read through this book and ended up releasing all the emotional involvement in my leg. The pain was reduced about 80 percent and I no longer limped. Now I just refuse to worry about it and instead bought a bicycle so I can strengthen and provide better stability for my muscular system.
We humans are very capable of endowing our minor injuries (or even major illnesses) with such power that they incapacitate us or, at the very least, demand a lot of attention. This book will help you put such things in perspective. Attitude truly is everything for the body/mind/spirit is a trinity, each component affecting the others. If you can improve your attitude you can improve your health. And the more you concentrate on your injuries or illness, the worse they will become. I highly recommend this book for anyone in pain or anyone with a bad attitude. And I recommend it for everyone who likes to read or who breathes on a regular basis. It's a keeper to which you can refer over and over for encouragement and reminders of the important things in life!

Action - Packed , but will these characters make it out alive!?!

Rebecca is an ATF Agent sent on a Dangerous mission to infiltrate an outlaw biker gang dealing in weapons and human trafficking , but once she's undercover she falls hard for the President of the Sinister Son MC .....Gavin!!
Can Rebecca keep her job and new found Feelings hidden in order to complete her mission safely or will their new found passion send them both into a battlefield neither will walk out of unscathed? ?

I enjoyed the fact that this was an MC book , but it was really about Rebecca an ATF agent falling for the president of a biker gang. It was interesting and I was very into the different missions she was going to be thrown into next.
I liked Gavin and Rebecca together , but was looking more for a rough biker and his girl kind of relationship .
To me Gavin sort of came into the start of their relationship knowing she would be his old lady already and didn't even know who she was . He really didn't talk to her like a bad boy biker , he was a little out of place when he was showing his feeling or having a conversation with Rebecca.

I'm all for a man crying ( Love for them to show their feelings) But Gavin Cried way to much for the leader of a Motorcycle Gang !!

This book was all about Rebecca a Strong Woman who fights to keep others safe in the line of duty no matter how many Battle Scars she comes out wearing . She does it because if she can save one person or family from the terrible loss she once had to endure , then it was all worth the pain.
I hope there will be another book about Rebecca and Gavin's Relationship , because the ending just seemed so unresolved !!

The best part of this book by far was the Scorching hot love scenes and the Gory , sometimes cringe worthy and violent kidnapping and gang war scenes.
I loved the action packed , sometimes bloodied , gory scenes within this story ..The fingernails being pulled back was on point !

I will definitely Read & Recommend books by Dawn White to my friends and cannot wait to read Sinister Outlaw which is about Gavin before he meets His Rebecca.

Unforgettable.

This is Agent Rebecca Quinn's first solo assignment as an ATF Agent... She is to infiltrate Sinister Sons Syndicate motorcycle club in the hopes of finding if someone in the club, or the club itself is part of a huge sex trafficking ring of under age girls that are used for prostitution and as drug mules.... Thanks to their CI, Lucas and the agreed on cover story, the getting in is the easy part.... Gavin, the MC President, ( older brother to Lucas) sets his sights on Rebecca from the start.... They become close and soon he is falling for her.(just as planned) The only thing is, she is falling for him too..... I really had no idea how this was gonna play out from one chapter to the next. There is so much going on.... Is she going to lose her heart to the one she's been lying to from the start? Will Gavin understand and forgive her?... With bullets flying, turf wars, kidnapping, explostions, torture, revenge and murder.... nerves, tempers and emotions are in constant flux... Do Gavin and Rebecca stand any kind of chance? Is death just waiting in the wings to eventually claim one or both of them?

that was pretty cool. So why would I give this book ...

I received this book to give an honest review. Contains spoilers at the end.

Now I didn't know this had both Deceptive Outlaw and Sinister Outlaw within it. Even though it says complete set series, that was pretty cool. So why would I give this book a three rating? Well I have sat on this review all day trying to gather my thoughts up on this. Now I have read a MC book before so I am not too familiar with all the works on how the MC should go but there were some things that bothered me with this book. Now I believe the author did a great job with building the character Rebecca up, I really loved how the author transformed her from ATF to biker chick with just a flick of clothing in a way.
Rebecca is an ATF agent who is going undercover to stop a biker gang what she doesn't expect is to fall for the president of this gang. We see as a relationship happens between the two and the dangers that Rebecca finds herself in not only once but on multiple occasions. The ending has you wondering who has it out for Rebecca and will she find out who it is before she finds herself hurt again.
The way this book ended has me wanting to read the next book as I want to know the answers Rebecca wants and needs. I need to know where the relationship between herself and Gavin is going to go.
So why I gave it three stars.......the story felt rushed, some of the scenes felt unrealistic to me, and Gavin just didn't click for me as a biker dude.

So just so you know the below sentences are spoilers I have given you a warning so do not read any further if you want to be spoiler free.

The issues I had.
1. The story feeling rushed. We meet Rebecca we learn of her assignment she meets with Gavin and not even a full day later she is sleeping with him. He uses a condom with a side chick but not with Rebecca. When she gets hurt she is always rushing into another assignment.
2. There is hardly any dialogue between Gavin and Rebecca no getting to know each other it is always " I love you." "I love you darlin." What ever happened to getting to know one another I understand keeping some things quiet as one is in law enforcement and the other is into illegal activities.
3. Who was the pledge who was one of the people behind the sex trafficking? I felt he was just a character pulled out of somewhere and then never mentioned again.
4. When you lose six months of your life how is the news just going to report it when you magically turn on the tv.
5. When you lose six months of your life how do you go back to work after being out of the hospital so quickly without a time frame?
6. During this time where in the hell was Gavin at? Did you not wonder where he was?
7. Why did Agent Mia have to see a shrink but Rebecca didn't? I would have thought Rebecca would have had to see someone to help her get through everything she has been going through.
8. How close is Rebecca to the other ladies in the club? The reason I ask is it seems she knows one of them well enough that they can just text her with good news like Rebecca didn't seem to have any type of relationship with them or so I thought.

Neither of the editions have a companion website - which really stinks.

There are NO DOWNLOADABLES (i was looking for the PDF file for the Glossary and Index) but nope.

So, the textbook is very comprehensive, but the companion website is non-existent. You can't even purchase an access code like Cengage does. I strongly feel this is something for the publisher to work on.

As far as textbooks go, this one is decent.
