About the Author
Gary B. Shelly wrote and published his first computer education textbook in 1969. More than twenty million copies of Shelly Cashman Series' textbooks have been sold. Gary and a talented group of contributing authors have produced books on computer programming, computer concepts, and application software that are the leading textbooks in the computer technology market today. Gary has hosted the annual Shelly Cashman Institute, a week-long training event focusing on the latest topics in technology, for the past 34 years.

Thomas J. Cashman received his education at California State University, Los Angeles. He established one of the first business data processing programs in the U.S. at Long Beach City College in California, where he taught and served as department head. In 1969, he began collaborating with now best-selling author, Gary Shelly.

Steven G. Forsythe has been a member of the Shelly Cashman authoring team for twenty years, and has written more than three dozen textbooks, including the most recent Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Internet Explorer textbooks.

This is an introductory book. If you are familiar with XP at all, you won't learn much from the book. As with the other Shelly/Cashman books, it is well written and clear for the beginner.

Yet for all the anger directed at Scot, and his scorn for Stuart orthodoxy about wiches, the paradox was that his detailed account of sorcery helped strengthen the hold of European demonologies in England while also inspiring the distinctively English tradition of secular magic and conjuring. Scot's influence was considerable. Shakespeare drew on The Discoverie of Witchcraft for his depiction of the witches in Macbeth. So too did fellow-playwright Thomas Middleton in his tragi-comedy The Witch. Recognising Scot's central importance in the history of ideas, Philip Almond places his subject in the febrile context of his age, examines the chief themes of his work and shows why his writings became a sourcebook for aspiring magicians and conjurors for several hundred years. England's First Demonologist makes a notable contribution to a fascinating but unjustly neglected topic in the study of Early Modern England and European intellectual history.

The central theme of the book is the FAC business of controlling air strikes, but the scope of the book is broad. It includes Green Berets, bets over catching rats, Christian missionaries --- the Real Warriors, black market and prostitution, the ineptness of the Vietnamese military, the Worst Officer, the Best FAC, Christmas and Easter music recorded and sent back home, heroes and traitors, culture of the native Montagnards, happy homecoming and much more.

About the Author
Lieutenant Colonel Dale Amend is a Colorado farm boy with a degree in General Agriculture from Colorado State University and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado. He is a US Air Force Command Pilot. As a Bird Dog FAC, (Forward Air Controller), in Vietnam in 1965-66, he flew 423 combat missions in 773 hours of combat flying time. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star Medal, 19 Air Medals and other decorations. After Vietnam, he taught Military Training at the US Air Force Academy. He retired from the US Air Force after 24 years of service. He and Nancy, his wife of more than five decades, live in Albuquerque. He loves gardening, golf, chasing grandkids and traveling with Nancy in their modest motor home. All four of their children and their families live nearby. Together, the combined clan comprises a strong family unit. They enjoy frequent family gatherings.

Markus Zusak's GETTING THE GIRL, the sequel to FIGHTING RUBEN WOLFE, is a five star effort of YA fiction. The story centers on the life of Cameron Wolfe and his hunger, his desire to get a girl, "the" girl, the one who lives in the house up in Glebe he waits outside of. This coming of age story feels so fresh that I swear my eyes started sweating.

Like so many younger brothers, Cameron is trying to grow in the shadow of his brothers, and it's not working for him. Rubes gets all the girls, accomplishes all the heroics, and stands on his own in the world. Cameron can only "want" that. It takes Octavia, not the girl he thought he was waiting for, but the real thing, to enter his life by surprise and plant the seed of strength in Cameron that he didn't know he had soil for.

At first, Cameron's secret journal writings feel too advanced for the kid we meet, but he grows into them, or they grow into him. Either way, they work well to add a deeper level to this already emotionally complex novel. They reveal a maturity in Cameron that feels right when the end of the story comes around.

If our lives truly are made up of moments, as Cameron says they are, that those moments are the pieces of us, then this story is a piece worth carrying with you, one you'll want to applaud with your noble clapping hands. When the last raindrop has fallen, the question it's asking us might be -- "What moments make up that life of yours?"

Friday, I read "Fighting Reuben Wolf"...couldn't put it down. Saturday, I read "Getting"...do I need to say more? All I can say, in all truthfulness is: "Write more, Markus and write fast!"

Good book but The Messenger is MUCH better

This is a good book but should probably categorized as poetry. I really enjoyed it but Zusak's book The Messenger is a much better book. Also, make sure to get The Book Thief. I would buy anything he writes. He is very talented.
