In ACOL we are gently guided to awaken, step by loving step. We find ourselves in the unlimited, eternal field of our own awareness, laughing and crying at the glory of what is.

Love the Course

This is the real deal. At first i was angry just reading the title. I thought the author was using the course in miracles and was now trying to distort the message of the Course. After reading this, i am amazed. This was divinely inspired. If you love CIM, you must read this.

ACOL cannot be compared with ACIM

Mari Perron, the first receiver of “A Course of Love,” was asked to compare ACOL with ACIM – was one more “advanced” than the other? She wisely answered, “They cannot be compared.” She went on to say that Reality IS – it cannot be compared. All expressions of Love are maximal (ACIM) as are all expressions of the Reality of the Pathway. While ACIM is more oriented to those who are conceptual oriented students, its aim is to open the student to communication from the Holy Spirit. The aim of ACOL is to open the heart and soften the bitterness that prevents Christ consciousness from awakening. These two paths have different focus that cannot be compared.

“The ego lives by comparison.” This idea is found in ACIM. Unfortunately many of us are reluctant to move past comparison to truly grow beyond judgment. I highly recommend both of these courses that cannot be compared. Each fulfills its intended function perfectly. This function is to awaken the knowing that Reality IS and is not known through comparison.

I'm surprised and impressed so far.

I've studied ACIM on and off since 1980. This book sound more like The Course than anything I have ever read. It also very much aligns with my own experiences. I'm surprised and impressed so far. It's been helpful to me so far. If you look at the history of ACIM, which I have and knew Bill Thetford, you will see that Helen, the scribe of ACIM, was told there was more to come through her. She refused. This Course of Love just might be some of the other stuff that Helen was supposed to scribe!

Fascinating at many levels

It is very rare that one comes across literature that is both sublime and significant in a non-pretentious way. Once I got over the fact that my vocabulary is perhaps not as developed as I thought, and swallowed my pride, the book is a fascinating look at ginans; a specialized literature of the Indo-Pak Ismaili Muslims. Besides the main subject matter, I found it very interesting that I came across many concepts that I never thought of… For example, the concept of “pre-eternity”… Just the thought of it gives one inspiration to seek other works from Asani. Well done.

More than a book - more a life transforming action-packed success reference manual!

Such an amazing book - more like a reference manual to be honest. I was privileged to have received a pre-launch copy and have also ordered additional copies give out as gifts - that's how good the book is. The book is as amazing as the person who wrote it - Andy (whom I met for the first time 5 days ago). The book has too many great stuff to digest fully at one sitting. And seeing it is more an action book ( a very condensed action book), one would have to refer to it again and again in putting into practice the many gems in the book on how to become a world class expert, with passion and profit! The book is now part of my 'exclusive elite books' :) and I am excited and looking forward to journeying with this book to transform my life in ways I have always wanted to but didn't have the know-how. A year from now I will be posting an update on the anticipated impact this book will have had on my life. This book is a step by step manual on how to monetize your knowledge and experience. I think that we all have some specific knowledge that others would be willing to pay for. Andy gives you the exact process on how to do that. I really loved this book and got some great additional ideas worth 1,000 times the price of it, even though I already attended most of Andy's live courses.

About the Author
William Pride (Ph.D., Louisiana State University) is a professor of marketing in the Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. In addition to this text, he is co-author of a market-leading principles of marketing book. Dr. Pride's research interests include advertising, promotion, and distribution channels, and his research articles have appeared in major professional journals, such as the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and the Journal of Advertising. Dr. Pride is a member of the American Marketing Association, Academy of Marketing Science, Society for Marketing Advances, and the Marketing Management Association. He has received the Marketing Fellow Award from the Society of Marketing Advances and the Marketing Innovation Award from the Marketing Management Association. Both of these are lifetime achievement awards.

O. C. Ferrell (Ph.D., Louisiana State University) is University Distinguished Professor of Business Ethics at Belmont University. He most recently served nine years as University Distinguished Professor of Marketing and Creative Enterprise Scholar at the University of New Mexico. His academic research focuses on ethical decision-making, stakeholder relationships and social responsibility. He is a leading author in marketing ethics and stakeholder orientation to achieve marketing performance in organizations. Dr. Ferrell is past president of the Academic Council of the American Marketing Association and chaired the American Marketing Association Ethics Committee twice. Under his leadership, the committee developed the AMA Code of Ethics and the AMA Code of Ethics for Marketing on the Internet. He is Vice President of Publications for the Academy of Marketing Science. He has received the Cutco Vector Distinguished Marketing Educator Award from the Academy of Marketing Science. Dr. Ferrell is the co-author of 20 books and more than 100 articles. His articles have been published in the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and The Academy of Management Executive, as well as other journals. His MARKETING: CONCEPTS AND STRATEGY TEXT, co-authored with Dr. William Pride, is one of the most widely adopted principles of marketing text in the world. BUSINESS ETHICS: ETHICAL DECISION MAKING AND CASES, co-authored with John Fraedrich and Linda Ferrell, is one of today's leading business ethics texts. Tries to entertain and teach, succeeds at neither.

This book tries to be two things: a guide to interesting areas of mathematics, and a playful children's book involving a cutesy cat character Penrose. It fails on both counts because it doesn't tie them together. The cat is just a transparent attempt to grab children's interest, and this heavy-handed gimmick fails miserably. The math is simply presented, having nothing to do with a coherent story. The result is ineffective and uninteresting.

Contrast this with Malba Tahan's "The Man who Counted" and "The Number Devil." There is no comparison.

I would love to see the concept in "The Man who Counted" taken much further, integrating higher mathematics into a real story. Unfortunately, this isn't it.

I'm not sure the intended audience of this book. The pictures are too minimal for early elementary, with content far above them. The grades for whom the content is appropriate would probably find the stories unappealing. They didn't catch my interest either. To its credit, the book has some interesting sidebars and activities for teacher use. My resources would not have been lacking if I'd passed on this purchase.

Fractals and Googols. . . and Penrose

Theoni Pappas has written several books of mathematical 'tales' including the well-know Penrose books.
"Fractals, Googols and other Mathematical Tales" includes a total of 22 topical tales.

The table of contents helpfully includes information as to the topic discussed in that tale, as the chapter titles, 'Dr. Spacemath', for example, do not always indicate what the topic is!
Unfortunately, if you already have the Penrose books, you will find that at least 9 of the chapters in "Fractals" are repeated from the Penrose books. Several of these have been condensed and it seems as though the author's commentary has been added to some in a purple side-bar in keeping with the style of the rest of the book.

While the Penrose books are clearly written for and to those new to the world of mathematics, "Fractals" includes small-print, purple side-bars that seem to be written to a parent/teacher.
As in the Penrose books, there is a section in the very back that includes solutions to puzzles and challenges posted in the book.

We are big fans of the Penrose books and Theoni Pappas, and while 'Fractals' does indicate topics in the table of contents, I wish that all these books had a good index to make it easier to find tales and activities that are relevant to a student's current topic of study.
I was also disappointed that so many of the tales in "Fractals" are repeats from the Penrose books.

However, if you do not already have Penrose, this would be a great book to introduce you to Pappas' unique approach to mathematical tales.

Good for studying for the SPI exam!

I used this book and Examination of Ultrasound Review to study for my SPI. Along with notes from my physics class. This book was really good and easier to understand than Kremkau. Although, Edelman sometimes goes too deep into a topic and sometimes he doesn't say enough about a topic. Which is why I also used the ultrasound review book previously mentioned. They worked great together! I also feel that at the back of the ultrasound review book, the test questions were similar to the SPI in the sense that you will always come down to two answers to choose from. I really recommend this book because it covers everything really well! Good luck with studying!

This is the book for ultrasound physics. Easy enough to read and helps to understand the subject. Only thing that would make it better is if it had online access to make it possible to read the book from a computer.

It's amazing! I can not believe how much new information made it to this textbook. Everything seems perfectly written! This is the best physics textbook I have ever studied from. Dr. Edelman's fourth edition is the best ever! I would recommend this textbook to anyone!

About the Author
Dr. Kathryn W. Hegar, Professor of Management at Mountain View College, has taught courses in management since 1970. She is the recipient of many distinguished awards, including Collegiate Teacher of the Year, Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year, Minnie Stevens Piper Professorship Award nominee, and Innovator of the Year. She has authored 30 programs for IT'S EVERYBODY'S BUSINESS, the pioneering business telecourse that was used for more than 10 years by colleges across the country and in the military services. She initiated the development of self-paced courses in management at Mountain View College; piloted the first online course in organizational behavior for the Dallas County Community College District, which ultimately resulted in the District offering a degree online; and instructed management courses online, including organizational behavior, from distant locations. In addition she conducted workshops and training seminars in supervision and management for major companies. She has participated in and held offices in professional organizations at all levels and has served as the president of the United States Chapter of the International Society for Business Education, which meets in a different country each year.

Great price

The book finally arrived today after waiting a few weeks. The hardcover is good and for the price I could not ask for more. I loved the packaging, which ensured my purchase was protected. In the event I order any other books I will make sure to paya little extra for tracking so I can ensure I have the book before the start of class.
